2012 LMLGA AGM & Conference

Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa

 May 9, 10 & 11, 2012

This conference has become a popular event for elected officials from Lower Mainland local governments as it provides a venue to debate issues and move resolutions forward to UBCM. But our AGM is also a unique opportunity to network and explore ideas and initiatives that are relevant and specific to the communities of the Lower Mainland. The conference alternates between the Resort Municipality of Whistler in Sea to Sky Country and Harrison Hot Springs in the Fraser Valley. Sponsorship for this event is very important; we could not have a successful event without it. We sincerely appreciate and thank all of our sponsors and supporters.

The LMLGA Executive will soon be gearing up for another exciting event. Anyone involved in local government is welcome to attend to attend the Convention. It includes a tradeshow along with keynote speakers, workshops, seminars, the AGM and a resolution session. The welcome reception, delegates’ lunch and annual banquet provide great networking working opportunities as well as welcome time to relax and have fun.

Pre-conference Session

In May 2011, the Province launched a Healthy Families BC Strategy, which is a $68 million health promotion program with 4 key areas- Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Eating, Healthy Start and Healthy Communities. Local governments are included in the 4th area- Healthy Communities. This consultation session will provide participants with an overview of the proposed HFBC Communities Initiative; provide an opportunity for local governments to comment on the proposed HFBC Communities Initiative; and facilitate discussions between local governments and health authorities to identify how they can build on their existing partnerships to reduce chronic disease and obesity risk factors.
