Drug Strategy

THAT the Regional Drug Strategy Committee recommends pursuing the following activities;

  1. Holding a workshop during the Whistler LMMA AGM on regional community initiatives;
  2. The preparation of a compendium of municipal initiatives from the Lower Mainland region for distribution at the Whistler LMMA AGM and for posting on the LMMA website;
  3. The development of a network of municipal officials directly involved in the management of local drug and crime prevention initiatives;
  4. Act as a clearinghouse (through the LMMA website) reports/studies and other documents produced by municipalities of the Lower Mainland on drugs and crime prevention;
  5. Be prepared to organize an information session on new legislation and federal programs that are likely to be announced in the near future;
  6. Consider a quarterly newsletter on crime prevention initiatives;
  7. Consider a local conference/seminar with the University College of the Fraser Valley’s Substance abuse Program on evidence based successful prevention practices;
  8. Explore and pursue project funding opportunities that may materialize as part of the new Federal Government’s drug prevention strategy.
